Jujutsu - Tsutsumi Hozan Ryu - Jujutsu or Jujitsu Jujutsu or Jujitsu It is worth mentioning the spelling of the term Jujutsu. The two Chinese characters that make up Jujutsu are yawara,
which translates to gentle, and may also be said as juu, and jutsu,
which translates to art or technique. The English lettering applied to these Japanese sounds, however, is based on Spanish and Portuguese. Hence, the sounds are not 100% correct in the change from Japanese to Spanish or Portuguese and then to English. Hence Jujutsu is also said Jujitsu, which is the common 'western' pronunciation used, also juijutsu and juijitsu are used. So Jujutsu is Jujitsu, or Jujitsu is Jujutsu, it make little difference.
